The Wellington Phoenix have announced another signing to their team heading into the A-League season.

29-year-old David Ball has agreed to a -year deal with the Wellington-based club.

The English striker has spent the last season at English Football League Championship side Bradford City on loan from Rotherham United where he scored five goals from 35 appearances.

Phoenix Coach, Ufuk Talay is happy to have secured Ball's services after a thorough search for a number nine.

"David is vastly experienced and having played in the EFL for a long period, brings in the qualities we are looking for in a frontman.

"He has proven to be a goal-scoring threat wherever he has played, and we are looking forward to him continuing that in the Hyundai A-League."

Ball is excited to play in New Zealand and prove his worth to the side.

"I have always enjoyed watching overseas leagues and the Hyundai A-League is a competition that gets stronger with each year.

"The coach has big plans for the team over the next couple of years so I'm looking forward to calling this my home and meeting the supporters.

"I am very competitive and want to win every game so I can't wait to get stuck in."
