Kiwi basketballer Jack Salt has signed his first pro contract, inking a deal with Polish side Trefl Sopot.

The 23-year-old won the NCAA basketball title in his final year at Virginia College and will play his first pro season in Europe.

He averaged 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds for the American college and had a brief stint for the Phoenix Suns in this year's Summer League in Las Vegas.

Trefl Sopot finished last season’s league in 15th spot - winning just seven of 30 games.

Salt has withdrawn for the upcoming Tall Blacks campaign to focus on the upcoming season in Poland.
