Cricket World Cup 2019: Blackcaps spinner Ish Sodhi in line to open bowling against England

The Blackcaps have revealed they're considering a surprise tactic for Wednesday's (NZT) match against England at the Cricket World Cup.

They've openly discussed using leg spinner Ish Sodhi to open the bowling in a bid to unsettle the hosts' in-form opening batsmen.

There was a notable lift in energy from the Blackcaps in training on Tuesday, and the team is ready to carry that same approach into their next crunch encounter.

It was an aggressive start from England's openers that laid the platform for their much needed victory over India.

That could see Sodhi deployed at the top of the innings - in an attempt to disrupt England's early momentum.

"If they are to take me on, they're taking me on off my really good balls," said Sodhi. "And hopefully taking some tough options off some balls that are spinning pretty hard."
