=============================

Kia ora, good evening and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Māori All Blacks v Fiji match from Rotorua International Stadium.

Pre-game chat: Fiji make history against Māori All Blacks in Suva

Fiji has created history in Suva with a 27-10 victory over the Māori All Blacks.

The Island nation outplayed the Kiwi side from the outset to claim their first win in the fixture since 1957.

The Fijians dominated the first half, controlling possession and throwing wave after wave of relentless attack towards the Māori All Blacks.

Fiji got their reward in the 22nd minute, as fullback Alifereti Veitokani sliced open the woeful defence to score the opening try of the match.

Number eight Vili Mata brushed aside three defenders to score a fantastic try in the corner in the 33rd minute to take the Fijian lead to 12-0 at the break.

The hosts came out of the dressing room with the same mindset as they had in the first - throw the ball around and play running rugby, which is exactly what they did.

The try of the match came in the 47th minute as the home side went the length of the field to score - a move which saw offloads and great handling before midfielder Waisea Nayacalevu scored to take the lead out to 20-0.

Sean Wainui got the visitors on the board in the 54th minute, finishing off a slick backline move - he doubled his total 15 minutes later, scoring down the same wing to take the score to 22-10.

But anything the Māori All Blacks could do, Fiji could do better - Nayacalevu scoring his second of the match and the game-winner as the hosts ran out a 27-10 victory claiming their first over the Māori All Blacks in 62 years.
