Netball World Cup 2019: All Blacks lead the way for proud Silver Ferns fans

All Blacks players are among the notable Kiwis celebrating the Silver Ferns' crowning as world champions.

The team won the 2019 Netball World Cup after beating Australia 52-51 in a tense final in Liverpool on Monday morning (NZ time), and the All Blacks timed their travel plans perfectly to catch the result.

Flying home fresh from their own Rugby Championship victory over Argentina, the All Blacks landed on home soil in time to gather around captain Sam Cane's phone to watch the final seconds of the game play out.

Their tense faces were quickly transformed into wide grins and cheers, along with a fair share of modest fist-pumps, as the final whistle blew.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was also quick to congratulate the country's newest world champs.

"The Silver Ferns deserve huge recognition for not only that final, but for their World Cup performance.

"You could see their heart and soul went into that last match... It was an amazing final to watch. A big congratulations to all the team and to their masterful coach, Noeline Taurua."

Minister for Sport and Recreation Grant Robertson tweeted a celebratory fist-pump photo expressing his pride for the team.

Blackcaps captain Kane Williamson, fresh from his own World Cup final defeat, expressed his pride amongst a host of congratulatory social media posts from noteworthy Kiwis.
