NRL 2019 live: Eels v Warriors in Sydney

Warriors 22  Eels 24

Full time - Eels scramble well and they get the win. That feels empty to be honest. I don't think I have seen officiating that bad in a Warriors game. The officials decided to rule on one team in the second half - multiple calls went against the Warriors but the final call on the Tuivasa-Sheck forward pass rule was embarrassing. I'm not one to complain much as things even themselves out in sport, but the Warriors have been given a shot in the nuts by the officials today.

79mins - Warriors get their first penalty in 87 minutes - they have six seconds to do something.

78mins - Warriors down the right hand side again, Beale chips ahead, ball rebounds of Sivo but not played out. Well it was played at but the referee is wearing blue and yellow today. This is a joke folks - the Warriors have been destroyed by the officials.

77mins - Warriors robbed of a try by these inept officials. This is actually a joke. RTS makes a superb break and offloads to Beale who will score but the dickhead ref has found a forward pass. That folks is BS.

75mins - Warriors still can't earn a penalty despite some obvious holding down from the Eels players. Parramatta working the ball back from their 20.

73mins - Best set of the half for the Warriors but the Eels are working the ball back easily.

71mins - Knock on Eels on tackle four. Takairangi may have scored if he had held on. Warriors bring the ball back from inside their 20.

70mins - Warriors scramble well to keep the Eels out but they are struggling to make any impact with ball in hand.

69mins - Luke with a dangerous tackle and the Eels have a penalty close to the posts. Penalty count 9-1 now.

68mins - Repeat set for the Eels. Beale tackled in the in goal.

67mins - Beale losses the ball in contact and the Eels back on attack.

66mins - Sivo causing havoc down the left hand side....has three Warriors on him but throws a silly pass and the ball in knocked on. Warriors off the hook.

64mins - Sivo makes a big tackle on RTS to shut down the Warriors attack and the Eels have a defensive scrum.

62mins - Parry knocks the ball in contact from a high ball and the Warriors have a scrum 20m out.

60mins - TRY WARRIORS - Ken Maumalo - Reward for the Paasi strip. Keighran from dummy half finds Harris-Tavita, to Hiku to Maumalo who scores untouched. Harris-Tavita can't convert from the sideline. PAR 24-22

59mins - Strip by Paasi and the Warriors back on the attack.

57mins - TRY EELS - Clint Gutherson: That's a try and a half. Blake with an insane offload inside his own 30 finds Moses out on the right flank and he skins Adam Blair for pace, RTS to beat, he chips ahead for Gutherson who picks up nicely to score in the corner. Moses can't convert. PAR 24-18.

56mins - Burr forgets the tackle count and is wrapped up on the last. Eels off the hook.

55mins - Tepai Moeroa losses the ball in contact and the Warriors have the ball 30m out.

54mins - Penalty Goal Eels: Mitchell Moses makes no mistake. PAR 20-18.

53mins - Penalty for the Eels. Lachlan Burr around the neck of Nathan Brown. Penalty count is 8-1 to the Eels. Moses will take a shot from 30m out.

52mins - Repeat set for the Eels. Nice kick from Gutherson finds open space but RTS is there to tidy up. Line dropout.

50mins - Great defensive set from the Eels - they resume from their own 40m.

46mins - TRY EELS - Maika Sivo: Unlucky for the Warriors. Dylan Brown's wayward pass is knocked back by Blake Green, deflects of Tevaga and Sivo pounces on the loose ball to score. Converted by Moses. 18-18.

45mins - Harris-Tavita strips 1-on-1 but the referee says two in the tackle. Terrible call from the match officials. Repeat set for the Eels.

44mins - Penalty for the Eels inside Warriors territory.

42mins - Double knock on saves the Warriors. Nice high ball from Moses and Maumalo is up and losses the ball forward but referee rules Parry got the first touch in the contest.

41mins - Solid set from the Eels. Warriors resume from their own 20.

Second half: Eels still very much in this - next try will be crucial. Eels will have the ball first.

Halftime: Warriors started superbly, then the Eels came to life before Issac Luke sparked his side back into action. Quality game. Luke and Paasi have been superb for the Warriors - Sivio and Nathan Brown the standouts for the Eels.

39mins - Eels go close through Gutherson but Tevaga with a try saver on the line. The Eels skipper losses the ball forward trying to score and that'll be the half.

38mins - Repeat set for the Eels. Nice grubber from Gutherson but Beale cleans up nicely in goal.

37mins - Penalty for the Eels on halfway. Harris-Tavita strips the ball, but two in the tackle. Big moment this.

34mins - Good scramble defence on the last from the Eels as the Warriors throw it around a bit. Ayshford tackled on the last and the Eels resume on their 20.

33mins - Eels are away on the last through Blake but Harris-Tavita makes a magnificent tackle around the boots and forces Blake over the sideline on the Warriors 30.

31mins - Mistake from the Eels - David Gower knocks the ball on inside the 20. Warriors scrum inside their own red zone.

30mins - Penalty for the Eels. They resume from halfway.

29mins - Poor pass from Moses and the Warriors of off the hook as they head up to halfway. Maumalo contests a high ball on the last but knocks the ball on.

28mins - Mistake from Burr on the Warriors 20 and the Eels have a full set in the red zone. Burr is off the park with a possible broken jaw from head-to-head contact.

27mins - Not much happening - they exchange a couple sets each.

24mins - TRY WARRIORS: Gerard Beale - Pressure tells. Green earns a repeat set with a deflected grubber. Warriors 5m out and RTS from dummy half floats a pass to Beale who scores in the corner. Luke converts from the sideline. WAR 18-12.

21mins - Warriors winning the field possession game - another set starts on halfway.

19mins - Warriors start their set from halfway after great work defensively.

16mins - TRY WARRIORS: Issac Luke - And the Warriors come straight back. Solid set from the Warriors - Luke darts out of dummy half on the last and crashes over with two Eels all over him. Luke converts. 12-12.

14mins - TRY EELS: Ethan Parry - Too easy. Great set play move on tackle four. Gutherson gets the ball on the run 5m out, throws a superb cutout pass that has Maumalo tackling air and Parry scores untouched in the corner. Moses converts. PAR 12-6.

11mins - TRY EELS: Brad Takairangi - One of the tries of the year! Manu Ma'u gets an offload away in traffic - ball comes out to Sivo who fends off Beale and Ayshford with distain and he is away...RTS is there in cover but Sivo with the inside ball to Takairangi who scores in the tackle of Hiku. Moses converts. 6-6.

10mins - Poor last tackle option from Green. Can't get the angle right on his grubber and the Eels on the attack.

9mins - Warriors get the first penalty. The resume from just inside Eels territory.

8mins - Aggressive defence from the Warriors has the Eels pinned but Nathan Brown makes a nice run on tackle four. Warriors resume from the 30.

6mins - TRY WARRIORS: Ken Maumalo - Simple catch and pass play from the Warriors. Green shifts to the right on tackle two, through the hands of Harris-Tavita, Blair and Hiku who finds Maumalo 5m out from the line and he dives over untouched. Luke from the sideline drills it. WAR 6-0.

5mins - 40-20 from Issac Luke - great kick from out of dummy half. Superb.

3mins - Great kick from Blake Green gets the Warriors out of trouble - Eels resume from their own 20.

1min - Decent set to start but not a great kick from Harris-Tavita. Eels start from their own 30.

Pre-match chat: Warriors' Ken Maumalo to return against Parramatta Eels

Star wing Ken Maumalo will return to the Warriors for their clash with the Parramatta Eels at Banwest Stadium in Sydney on Saturday.

The team's top try scorer will slot back into the starting side after a one-game absence due to a head injury suffered during the draw with the Broncos.

In the midst of a career season with 12 tries to date, Maumalo's return is a big boost for the Warriors as they look to spring into the all-important top-eight on the NRL ladder.

He'll replace Adam Pompey in the only change to the side that edged the crionulla Sharks at Mt Smart last weekend.

Stand-out half Kodi Nikorima sustained an ankle injury during that match but has been declared fit to appear against the Sydneysiders.

The Eels are coming off a 24-36 loss to the Sea Eagles on Sunday and are currently tied at sixth on the ladder. They've won five of their six encounters at their new home of Bankwest Stadium.

Foward Leeson Ah Mau will start his 18th consecutive match of the season to date, joining Peta Hiku as the only players to have featured in every game through the campaign so far.

Blake Green is encouraged by the grit shown by his side in securing two wins and a draw from their past three away fixtures, and knows they'll need more of the same to overcome the Eels.

"We have miles of things we need to improve on," said Green. "But one thing that's been consistent over the past patch of footy has been our effort.

"We haven't been great at executing things at times but teams have struggled to get over the top of us. We've been in the fight, we've been tough to handle, and we've been working really hard."
