NRL 2019: Warriors target young Storm forward Tino Faasuamaleaui

After missing out on Matt Lodge, the Warriors are preparing to table a huge offer for a player likened to Sonny Bill Williams, but who only has 27 minutes of NRL experience.

According to Fox Sports, the Warriors are chasing 19-year-old prodigy Tino Faasuamaleaui and the Auckland NRL club is ready to table a three-year, $1.5m deal.

Faasuamaleaui is signed with the Melbourne Storm until the end of 2020, with rival clubs free to table offers after November 1.

The prop made his NRL debut two weeks ago against the St George Illawarra Dragons and is set to face the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday.

In his first match, Faasuamaleaui ran for 84 metres and made 15 tackles in less than a half of football.

Fox League claims Faasuamaleaui is on $110,000 this season and $250,000 for 2020, his last year on contract at Melbourne.

The report adds that rugby league's best talent scouts have identified the young gun as the next boom forward, cut from a similar prototype to Brisbane Broncos pair Payne Haas and David Fifita.

The Warriors are one of several teams targeting the Storm forward.
