The Black Ferns have outclassed the USA with a crushing 33-0 win in their Women's Rugby Super Series showdown in San Diego.

The world champions were too strong and skilful across the paddock for the fifth-ranked Americans, running in five tries, while maintaining a clean line in a dominant all-round performance.

Halfback Kendra Cocksedge was the catalyst for the visitors, conducting play expertly from the base of the ruck, with a hand in all of the Black Ferns' tries and a near-flawless display from the kicking tee.

The visitors opened the scoring early with a well-worked try to Carla Hohepa, after a period of sustained goal-line pressure.

Te Kura Ngata-Aerengamate added another just five minutes later, crashing over from close range to give her side an early 14-0 advantage.

Wing Natahlia Moors then crossed out wide to send the Kiwis into the halftime interval with a handy 19-0 lead.

That trend continued into the second stanza, with number eight Pia Tapsell powering her way over the USA line immediately after the break to claim her first test try.

Eloise Blackwell added the finishing touch for NZ in the dying moments to put the ribbon on an emphatic victory.

The win maintains New Zealand's undefeated start to the series, after their 35-20 defeat of Canada on Saturday to open their campaign.

Their next match will be against France - winners in the last meeting - on Sunday morning.
