New Zealand's golden girl of the kayak has done it again.

Lisa Carrington has backed up her K1 200m win on Sunday, scoring yet another world championship title in the K1 500m.

The double Olympic champion dominated the competition on Monday morning [NZT] in Szeged, Hungary, to reclaim the title she last won four years ago.

The 30-year-old led by a boat length after 150m, eventually winning by 1.63s from Volha Khudzenka of Belarus, with Olympic champion Danuta Kozak a distant fourth.

The win marks Carrington's 17th world championship medal, including 10 golds, while she also ensured New Zealand will have both K1 200m and K1 500m boats at next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.

But Carrington couldn't quite push the women's K4 500m to a medal a few hours later. The crew of Carrington, Kayla Imrie, Aimee Fisher and Caitlyn Ryan finished fourth in the final - a disappointing result for last year's runners-up.

But the silver lining for the Kiwi crew - they also did enough to secure an Olympic spot.
