Champions League 2019: Tottenham Hotspur let lead slip in draw with Olympiacos

Tottenham Hotspur have blown a two-goal lead in the European Champions League, as Olympiacos fought back to earn a well-deserved 2-2 draw with last season's beaten finalists.

A Harry Kane penalty and a fine strike from Lucas Moura put the English Premier
League side in front against the run of play, but Daniel Podence pulled one back before halftime in Athens.

Mathieu Valbuena levelled from the spot early in the second period to earn the Greeks a point.

Spurs started poorly in Athens, but seemed to have settled their nerves, when Kane converted a 26th minute penalty he won himself.

Podence had struck the post minutes earlier, with keeper Hugo Lloris beaten as Olympiacos dominated.

Moura, whose late semi-final goal at Ajax took Spurs into the final last season, then finished calmly from the edge of the box to put the guests in the driving seat.

But off a clever one-two with Valbuena, the superb Podence slashed the deficit in 44 minutes, and Valbuena won and scored a penalty of his own shortly after the restart.

Spurs threw on substitutes Son Heung Min and Erik Lamela, but could not find a winner, despite the latter having a powerful shot saved by Jose Sa.

A first-half double from Angel di Maria capped a superb Paris Saint-Germain
performance, as they downed Real Madrid 3-0, while Atletico Madrid struck late to draw 2-2 with Juventus.

Zinedine Zidane's Real offered only occasional resistance, while PSG - even without suspended Neymar and injured Kylian Mbappe - missed several chances, before Thomas Meunier added an injury-time third .

The Parisians top Group A after Club Brugge drew 0-0 with Galatasaray.

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Spain with Juventus, but Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi scored for the Turin side, before Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera rescued a last-gasp point for Atletico.

Bayer Leverkusen lost 2-1 Lokomotiv Moscow in the other Group D contest.

Manchester City cruised 3-0 at Shakhtar Donetsk and Atalanta crashed in their first-ever Champions League game 4-0 at Dinamo Zagreb in Group C.

In Group B, Bayern Munich beat Red Star Belgrade 3-0.
