The NZ Warriors' season may be over, but their female counterparts are getting ready to kickoff their NRLW campaign.
The Warriors women take on the Roosters in Melbourne on Saturday, with six players from last year's inaugural season set to start at AAMI Park.
Included in that list is new captain Georgia Hale, who'll start in her new position of lock.
"It was a role she's had to adjust to," coach Luisa Avaiki told Newshub. "She'd played in the halves for a while, so this was something she took on board and she's done a really good job of becoming more familiar with her role."
The positional change opens the door for former Fiji sevens star Timaima Ravisa to start at standoff.
She's one of two former Fiji international rugby players for the Warriors, alongside Roela Radiniyavuni.
Both represented Fiji in 15s and sevens, before making the transition to rugby league.
Ravisa only made the switch this year and despite a steep learning curve, she is getting to grips with her adopted new code.
"It's a huge change, jumping from union to league," Ravisa told Newshub. "I'm adapting well.
"I know that if you have the passion and heart to play a game, and you give your best during training, you can succeed.
"Also learning the rules of league… it's a big challenge."
Challenges aside, Ravisa is eager to her newfound skills to the test.
"I'm pretty excited, but nervous at the same time. I know things will go well once I jump on the field."
