The New Zealand Breakers have moved quickly to replace injured big man Rob Loe by acquiring centre Deng Deng for the remainder of the ANBL season.

On Monday, the former Sydney Kings player was welcomed at Auckland International Airport by Breakers General Manager Simon Edwards and CEO Matt Walsh, after flying in from Australia.

Loe suffered a fractured skull in last week's 103-72 win over the Illawarra Hawks at Spark Arena.

The Tall Black was set to undergo further tests in hospital over the weekend to determine the extent of the injury. His timeline for a return to the court is yet to be set, but an update is expected on Tuesday.

Deng is a South Sudanese-Australian professional with two years of NBA G-League experience. The 6ft 6in (2.03m) big played 17 matches for the Kings last season averaging 3.6 minutes, 1.7 points and 1 rebound per game.

He'll likely be available for the Breakers next game against the Cairns Taipans in Auckland on Thursday.
