ANBL: Breakers recruit RJ Hampton wows NBA scouts before pre-season outing

The RJ Hampton effect has drawn a big crowd to an NZ Breakers training in the USA, before their pre-season encounter with the Memphis Grizzlies.

More than 100 NBA scouts, representing all 30 franchises, turned out to watch Hampton.

The 18-year old guard is considered a top candidate for the 2020 NBA draft and he made sure he left a lasting impression on those in attendance, hitting a half-court shot to finish the session.

The American decided to forego the traditional college route to the NBA, choosing a year of competition against seasoned professionals in the Australian NBL. His decision created headlines across the United States and beyond, putting the Breakers name under brighter lights than ever before.

The Auckland-based team face the Grizzlies on Wednesday (NZ time), before heading to Oklahoma to take on Steven Adams and the Thunder on Friday.
