Bathurst 2019: Driver Liam Talbot proposes marriage during live pre-race interview

Australian Supercars driver Liam Talbot may miss out on a podium finish at the iconic Bathurst race on Sunday, but either way, he's assured of a day to remember.

During a trackside pre-race interview, an extra-anxious Talbot took turned to his bewildered girlfriend - television personality Charli Robinson - and proposed on live TV.

"I feel even more nervous, because I've got some exciting news," Talbot said, before dropping to one knee.

"Charli, I love you with all my heart. I couldn't imagine my life without you, will you marry me?"

The reply was exactly what Talbot had hoped for from Robinson, who was an original member of children's musical group Hi-5.

"I love Bathurst and now I love it even more," exclaimed his future wife. "Happy Bathurst Day.

"This is one of my favourite days of the year, so now it's my most romantic day."
