Tasman 31 Wellington 14

Fulltime

Tasman 31 (Jordan 2 & Havili tries; Hunt two conversions & four penalties) Wellington 14 (Fidow try; Garden-Bachop three penalties)

40th minute - Wellington go back onto attack, looking for some consolation, but Jordan intercepts and finds Paea inside.

Eventually, the ball goes into touch, just beating the siren. Wellington look for a way upfield, but eventually kick out.

Tasman have won, completing their unbeaten season and securing their first Mitre 10 Cup premiership title.

That's the first unbeaten season in the nationl championship since Auckland back in 2007.

38th minute - TRY to Jordan.

Patafilo burst upfield for Wellington and the tryline beckons, but the last pass to Kirifi goes astray, Nankivell gathers and finds the gap, and eventually finds Jordan in support.

No-one catches him with a headstart. Hunt misses the conversion. Tasman 31-14

37th minute - Tasman forwards are just controlling the ball outside the 22, killing the clock. Havili kicks for the corner, but it goes out on the full.

36th minute - Roach has to leave the field and Makalio comes back for this scrum. It goes down, but Tasman clear the ball to the backs.

35th minute - From the missed penalty, Wellington struggle to exit and eventually knock on. Tasman have another scrum in midfield.

34th minute - Tasman earn another penalty about 45 metres out from the posts. Havili takes a shot to burn up time, but it goes astray.

33rd minute - Fifita is subbed off, replaced by Furno.

32nd minute - Jackson has gone upstairs to review a possible tackle without the ball. Fifita is the culprit and it looks like a shoulder charge, but the ruling is just a penalty to Tasman.

Hunt searches for the touchline.

31st minute - Hunt has the ball and dashes towards the goal-line, but is just dragged down. Wellington have a clearing penalty.

30th minute - O'Reilly charges towards the posts, he's tackled, but not held, so he gets up again. He looks for an offload, but the ball goes loose and Tasman clear.

29th minute - Wellington have a scrum feed in midfield, Tasman half. Mako push them off the ball and it's untidy for them.

28th minute - Salmon comes on for Lomaz, Uchida replaces Christie for Tasman. Connor Garden-Bachop replaces Lam on the Wellington wing.

27th minute - Crockett needed attention to a head wound, but he's back in the scrum. Wellington turn the scrum, but Tasman still have the ball and Havili clears.

26th minute - Wellington win the lineout and assault the line again. Crockett thwarts them again for a defensive scrum.

Both teams are running on their subs now. Cirikidaveta is on for Parkinson at lock.

25th minute - Tasman run the ball out of their 22, but Wellington dominate the breakdown and earn a penalty just outside the 22. They kick to the corner.

24th minute - Eventually Tasman steal the ball on their own line and Havili clears. Crockett was the thief on that occasion, after 17 phases.

22nd minute - Wellington win the ball and lay seige on the goal-line.

21st minute - Tasman control the scrum, but are struggling to clear.

20th minute - Wellington may have scored here, but the decision goes upstairs...

Aso intercepts the ball and dashes towards the line, but is run down by Jordan. Aso tries to pass infield, the ball comes off Jordan and Patafilo eventually forces.

The video ref rules the ball also hit Aso and went forwards, so no try.

19th minute - Hunt lines up a shot from 40 metres out, directly in front of the posts, but that was horrible.

Roach replaces Makalio at hooker for Tasman.

17th minute - Ah Juoi replaces Blackwell and O'Reilly replaces Aumua for Wellington.

Tasman have the ball in the Wellington half, but the Lions defence is staunch. Jackson pings Kirifi for offside in midfield and Havili points to the posts.

15th minute - Christie pumps a high kick, chased by Jordan, who claims it on the full. Tasman mount an attack.

Makileo throws a terrible pass that goes loose, but Tasman regroup and earn a penalty at the breakdown.

13th minute - Wellington back on attack from that penalty. Lam tries to slip a backhanded pass to his wing.

When the ball goes long left, it bounces awkwardly and Patafilo is bundled into touch.

12th minute - Patafilo comes onto the Wellington wing, with Umaga-Jensen leaving and Aso moving to centre.

Tasman muscle a maul upfield, but Jackson penalises them for too much backchat.

11th minute - Paea has certainly made an impact since his arrival. He gets among the forwards and wins a penalty for Tasman.

10th minute - Taufua has failed his HIA, so he's gone for the night.

Ninth minute - Big tackle from Aumua on Faingaanuku. Wellington penalised and Hunt slots the goal from in front. Tasman 26-14

Seventh minute - In fact, Jacob Norris has replaced Taufua. Paea is on in the backs and Wyatt Crockett enters the game at prop.

Sixth minute - Ben-Nicholas steals the ball for Wellington, who try to build an attack from their own half. Eventually the ball is kicked clear.

Fifth minute - Tasman control the lineout ball and their forwards surge into the Wellington half.

Fourth minute - The ball travels along the Wellington backline and Renata finds touch just inside the Tasman half.

Third minute - Tasman have the ball in midfield, Paea bursts from the breakdown, but Wellington have a defensive scrum.

First minute - Taufua is off for Tasman, obviously suffering from that head knock. From the kick-off, Wellington are penalised and Hunt kicks for touch.

Fetuli Paea has replaced Taufua.

Halftime

Tasman 23 (Jordan & Havili tries; Hunt two conversions & three penalties) Wellington 14 (Fidow try; Garden-Bachop three penalties)

Wellington are dominating possession and territory, and have forced Tasman into 97 tackles, compared to 29 for the Lions. Stats don't always tell the story.

40th minute - Ben-Nicholas charges up the centre of the field for Wellington. The siren goes and the Lions mount one last attack.

They string together 15 phases, before Parkinson disrupts the ruck and Tasman scramble the ball into touch to end the half.

39th minute - Wellington control the scrum long enough to clear, with Proctor making good ground down the left.

From an attacking kick, a Tasman pass goes loose behind the goal-line, but the ball bounces away from James Blackwell, as he dives for the try.

38th minute - This could be interesting, given Tasman's big push at the other end a few minutes ago.

36th minute - Taufua charges upfield and Aumua just ankle-taps him. At the maul, Wellington secure a turnover and scrum feed.

35th minute - Wellington have the ball on halfway, but Renata's kick to the corner goes out on the full. Tasman have a lineout just inside Wellington's half.

34th minute - Christie feeds the second scrum of the game, Tasman put the power the Wellington pack and eventually draw a relieving penalty.

Hunt's kick misses touch and the Lions roar back on attack.

33rd minute - Taufua is struggling, after he copped a head injury last week and battled for fitness for this game. He rejoins the scrum.

32nd minute - Wellington control this kick-off and Garden-Bachop clears. Taufua charges and loses the ball, Kirifi makes ground, finds Aso, who chips, but Wellington knock on, as they try to gather.

30th minute - OK, so now the penalties don't look so silly, although Garden-Bachop hooks that conversion horribly. Tasman 23-14

29th minute - Fifita is trying to inspire Wellington, who are on attack and under advantage again.

Lam runs down the right and the Lions are just metres out. TRY to Fidow.

28th minute - At some point, Wellington must refrain from kicking for goal and play for tries. They're still 14 points behind.

27th minute - Garden-Bachop lines up another penalty from in front and just sneaks it inside the left upright. Tasman 23-9

26th minute - Wellington forwards lose control of the ball, but the ref goes back for a no-arms tackle from Tasman prop Tim Perry.

25th minute - Wellington on attack, with Fifita leading the charge. Jackson's playing advantage again.

24th minute - Hunt swings the conversion inside the right upright to extend the lead. Tasman 23-6

23rd minute - Try to Havili.

Wellington make a hash of the kick-off and the ball bounces back to the Mako. Hunt makes a break left and finds Havili steaming down the sideline.

20th minute - Jackson pings Tasman for a high tackle from Tyrel Lomax. Garden-Bachop looks to the posts to keep his team in contention.

He slots it. Tasman 16-6

19th minute - Hunt just sneaks his shot at goal inside the left upright. Tasman 16-3

Wellington kick off again and have a scrum just outside the 22.

17th minute - Wellington kick off and Hunt clears for Tasman. From the lineout, Wellington put the ball to the backs, but the Mako defence is up fast and earn a penalty at the breakdown.

15th minute - TRY to Will Jordan.

Tasman kick off and Nankivell gets up to tap the ball back. The forwards control possession and Jordan has too much gas, when he gets the ball.

Hunt converts. Tasman 13-3

14th minute - Garden-Bachop slots a nerve-settler. Tasman 6-3

13th minute - Ben Lam sparks a break down the right and Wellington swarm onto attack - Jackson's playing advantage again.

Tasman are offside and this chance is close to the posts, directly in front. Surely Garden-Bachop can't miss this one.

12th minute - Wellington have the ball in their own half, but the Tasman defence is rushing up on them.

11th minute - Garden-Bachop hooks his second shot at goal too, so the Lions have nothing to show for those opportunities.

10th minute - Havili spills a towering kick in midfield and Wellington are back on attack. Strange almost intercepts the ball, but Jackson awards another penalty, when Taufua is slow to roll away from the ruck.

Ninth minute - Jackson Garden-Bachop lines up a kick at goal, but he hooks it left.

Eighth minute - A weak clearance kick gives Wellington their first attacking chance and Jackson awards them a penalty at the breakdown in midfield.

Seventh minute - Wellington kick off - again - but Havili drives them back with a long kick, back into their own half.

Sixth minute - Hunt lines up another kick at goal in perfect conditions and slots it, but it's a wobbly old kick. Tasman 6-0

Fourth minute - Squire makes a long run down the left and Havili chips behind the Wellington defence for position. Jackson penalises Wellington for offside.

Third minute - Wellington kick off - again - and Tasman control possession. Christie kicks high and Garden-Bachop spills the ball in midfield.

First minute - Glen Jackson will referee this contest - he really should be in Japan right now.

Wellington kick off and Tasman go hot on the attack. They rush into the Wellington half and force an immediate penalty at the breakdown.

Mitch Hunt lines up the kick at goal and slots it from just left of the posts. Tasman 3-0
