Mitre 10 Cup: Manawatu beat Counties Manukau to make playoffs

Manawatu have beaten Counties Manukau 33-17 to book their spot in the Mitre 10 Cup championship semi-finals.

Unwanted All Black Ngani Laumape starred in the Turbos win, scoring the home sides second try and making line breaks for fun in his 45 minutes on the park before being pulled because of an injury.

The injury didn't seem too serious as he was able to walk off the field at Central Energy Trust Arena.

The hosts got off to the perfect start in the sixth minute when first-five Otere Black scored the opener, Laumape kept the momentum when he scored 15 minutes later.

Johnny Galloway and Samu Tawake crossed the line for the Turbos in the first half, taking the score to 26-0.

Liam Fitzsimons scored after the hooter to get the visitors on the board, taking the score to 26-5 at the break.

When Laumape's replacement, Ben Werthmuller scored in the 56th minute, the game was out of reach for Counties.

They scored two late consolation tries but it was too little too late, falling to their ninth loss of the season.
