MMA: Kiwi Mark Abelardo bolts to win at ONE Championship Indonesia

Kiwi bantamweight Mark 'Tyson' Abelardo has stormed to a statement win at ONE Championship 'Dawn of Valour' in Jakarta.

Abelardo was far too strong across the cage for Ayideng Jumayi, putting the Chinese fighter through the ringer with a three-round striking onslaught to earn a comfortable unanimous-decision victory.

The win is his fourth in his last five fights, as he continues to stamp his mark in one of the Asian martial arts promotion's deepest divisions.

The 28-year-old earned his way onto the full roster at ONE earlier this year, after impressing in their Warrior Series - a show used for scouting rising talent.

His decision to base himself at Thailand's renowned Fairtex Gym in Pattaya is clearly paying off, as evidenced by the clear improvements in his all-round striking, which were on full display in the Indonesian capital.

After establishing his kick attack early, Abelardo proceeded to to turn up the heat with his hands, stinging Jumayi regularly.

A crisp elbow from Abelardo at the end of the first round crumpled Jumayi to the canvas, but the bell saved his opponent from what seemed a fight-ending flurry.

A steady diet of leg kicks and body shots followed, as Jumayi persevered through the punishment to limp to the end of the bout.

New Zealand kickboxer Alexi Serepisos did not have such a memorable night, after he was stopped in the third round by Japan's Taiki Naito in their Super Series preliminary card bout.

In an action-packed contest, Naito was the sharper fighter throughout, beating Serepiso to the punch consistently, until a left hook in the final round put the Kiwi down and out.
