Netball: Silver Ferns coach Noeline Taurua coy on playing future of Laura Langman ahead of Constellation Cup

Silver Ferns coach Noeline Taurua insists she knows nothing about the playing future of captain Laura Lagman.

Langman will captain the Ferns in the upcoming Constellation Cup series against Australia, which gets underway on Sunday.

The four-test series will be the first time New Zealand has played since beating their trans-Tasman rivals in the Netball World Cup final in July.

On Wednesday, an excited Langman said she'll reveal her plansin the "very near future", leading to speculation that she is potentially pregnant.

"My plans long term will all be revealed very shortly," she said. "It's been a very long process, but I think after a good break I'm going to relish the decision I make."

Taurua said it was the first time she'd heard Langman's comments when pressed by AM Show host Duncan Garner about the 33-year-old's future.

"I know nothing. I'm not in her household," she told the AM Show. "We're like politicians we say something, but nothing at the end of the day.

"If she's pregnant, that's fantastic, and if she's not that fantastic, she'll play netball."

Taurua did admit there was some truth that both Langman and Maria Folau needed a tap on the shoulder to participate in the upcoming Constellation Cup series.

The four-test series starts in Christchurch on Sunday before moving to Auckland, then Sydney and Perth.

"To some extent, that is correct," she said.

"When you finish a pinnacle event like a World Cup. a lot of these senior players think about what they're going to do in their next phase.

"But there is not a lot of conceiving needed, because they have to commit themselves, but I'm thankful they're still here."

Langman and Folau made themselves available for the Constellation Cup series and the Nations Cup in England in January.

Taurua's contract also finishes after the Nations Cup, and she'll also take some time off to decide her future in the national set up.

But her focus remains on leading the Silver Ferns as they look to back up their World Cup success with victory in the Constellation Cup.

"We're excited to get back out on the court in front of our home fans and ride the wave on the success of the World Cup.

"We know the expectations have risen and we're heading into a new ago and start building for the World Cup in four years' time."
