The Wellington Phoenix are on the brink of an unwanted club record when they face the Melbourne Victory across the Tasman on Sunday.
While a loss would keep them winless, it would also hand them their worst-ever start to an A-League season.
After an exodus of club legends during the off-season, new coach Ufuk Talay has had to rebuild the team from scratch. He only finalised his squad three weeks ago.
"It was always going to take time to bring in the right players," said Talay. "Starting with seven players is never easy.
Four rounds into the new season and the Phoenix sit dead last on the table.
Captain Steven Taylor insists his side are still title contenders.
Playoffs is what we've been talking about since day one," said Taylor. "And that's where we're looking to be, and there's no reason why we can't do that."
Although there's one fundamental thing the Phoenix have to get right.
"We've just got to win games, we've gotta find a way to win."
And one win could be the start of the Phoenix rising from the ashes of bottom place.
