Two former champions are heading back to Auckland's ASB Classic with confirmation Julia Goerges and John Isner for the 2020 edition.

German star Goerges has a stellar record at No.1 Tennis Lane, having secured back-to-back titles in 2018-19.

Goerges has had a decent 2019, reaching the final of the WTA Premier tournament in Birmingham before losing to world No 1 Ashleigh Barty in the final.

Goerges went on to Wimbledon where she met Serena Williams in the third round in a replay of the previous years' semi-final.

The world No.28 is excited to be returning to Auckland.

"Auckland is one of my favourite tournaments and I can’t wait to come back and see all of the amazing people.

"I've definitely had some great memories and I’m looking forward to defending my title again in January," said Goerges.

American Isner is also a two-time champion of the ASB Classic, lifting the trophy in 2010 and 2014.

The world No.26 has had an injury-plagued 2019, but is targeting Auckland, one of his favourite tournaments, as a chance for a reset.

"I love playing in Auckland. It’s such a great place to play, the crowds are awesome it’s and one of the best stops on the tour. It’s where I won my first ATP title, and I’m looking forward to playing there again in 2019," said Isner.

The two heavy hitters join other big names of tennis including Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Bianca Andreescu, Daniil Medvedev and Dennis Shapovalov.
