England superover 18/0, Blackcaps superover 8/1

ENGLAND WIN SERIES 3-2

New Zealand superover - Looks like Jordan will take the ball for England. No sign of the NZ batsmen yet. Seifert and Guptill get the honours. First ball scooped to fine leg for two. Jordan flirts with the wide line, and he's gone too far. Wide called. Seifert goes over long off and the ball just beats the chasers to the boundary. 11 off 4 needed. Great ball from Jordan to beat Seifert. Handy half-volley heaved at and skied, Morgan scrambles and takes an excellent diving catch. 11 off two balls needed, De Grandhomme in. Guptill goes deep for one. That will do it. Dot ball, and we're done.

England superover - Southee will bowl. Single off the first ball. Morgan straight for six. In the blockhole for a single. Bairstow lofts one for six straight over Southee's head. Two to come. Single off the fifth. Low full toss goes for two. NZ need 18 to win.

We're heading to a superover! Can NZ exorcise some demons from Lord's?

11th over - 16 runs required off the final over from Neesham. Well run for two off a well placed delivery. Southee comes around to cut the next ball off to just a single. Gone! Edged to a short third man and CDG takes an easy catch to dismiss Curran. Three to come. Jordan swings a full toss away for six! Two off the penultimate ball. Four runs needed for a tie. Neesham wide down leg and dispatched to the square leg boundary for four! We have a tie.

10th over - 26 from 12 required. Four runs to start from Southee helps that. So will a wide. Late cut straight to Munro, just a single there. Curran skies a full toss and somehow it falls to safety for a run. Southee follows the batsman wide, just a leg bye.

9th over - Boult is back, wide and full for a dot ball to start. Huge appeal from Boult for LBW, they scamper a single. They'll review this. Missing off stump comfortably. Drifts one wide for another dot ball. Curran pulls one over extra cover for a much-needed six. Goes wide again, this time he's pinged. Beats the bat with the next one. The batsmen turn for a tight two runs, bat is dropped and he's out for all money - but Boult can't collect the throw from deep.

8th over - Santner in, and he may have a stumping off his first ball here. Nifty work from Seifert to reel in a wide one and whip off the bails. Third Umpire confirms the bails were just off before Curran could get his bat back down. S Curran st Seifert b Santner 24 (11). Gregory wastes no time and swiftly charges to slam Santner back over his head for six. Gregory reaches for the next one and spoons an easy catch to Southee at cover. Gregory c Southee b Santner 6(2). Tight stuff to close a brilliant over from Santner.

7th over - England need 57 off 30 balls to win, very manageable. Neesham into the attack. Bairstow pulls one over six to welcome him. Better areas off the next two, just the singles. Swing and a miss. Same delivery the next ball and this time Bairstow edges behind to Seifert. Big wicket for NZ. J Bairstow c Seifert b Neesham 47(17)

5th over - Kuggeleijn's first ball blasted over covers, one bounce and into to the fence from Curran. Clever shot over fine leg for another boundary. Slashes the third one over the rope at backward point for six. Fourth is over extra cover for six. Massive over for England with two balls to go. Two dots to close.

4th over - Santner up for his first over. Two dots followed by a big six from Bairstow. Curran gets off the mark with a single. Dots to close an excellent over.

3rd over - Boult up again. Beats Morgan all ends up off his first ball. Swings the next into the clouds and deep enough to go for six over square leg. Puts the next one into cow corner for four. Pulls one handsomely for six, three boundaries in a row. Boult sprays one down leg for a wide. Morgan doesn;t time the next one, up it goes and down it comes into the hands of Kuggeleijn, and that's a huge wicket for NZ. E Morgan c Kuggeleijn b Boult 17(7).

2nd over - Southee gets one from his first ball, Vince toes one to mid-off for an easy catch. J Vince c Kuggeleijn b Southee 1(2). Late cut from Bairstow for four. Wide, a dot ball, and another nice late cut for four to close.

Same shot off the final ball, this time Taylor is run out coming back for the second.

Head down and hoists another over long-on for six more. Guptill cuts over point, they take two more. Dot to finish a 20-run over.

1st over - Guptill rocks back and slams Sam Curran to the mid-on boundary. Plenty of intent early, and there'll have to be. Munro sneaks a couple. Lofted cut from Munro and he dispatchs it one-bounce into the fance. Blasts the next ball straight over long-on for six. Action aplenty here.

12:05pm - The rain has arrived, people. Well and truly arrived. And it appears here to stay.

Pre-match banter:

Blackcaps look to get back to basics

By Ben Francis

Blackcaps captain Tim Southee says his team have been given a serious wake-up call after their 76-run defeat to England in the fourth T20 in Napier.

After the visitors were sent into bat, Dawid Malan (103*) smashed a 48-ball century, the fastest in England's T20 history and skipper Eoin Morgan made a blistering 91 as the English finished 241/3, their highest ever T20 total.

Despite a valiant effort from the Blackcaps batsman, New Zealand fell short as England levelled the series, with only one game, in Auckland on Sunday, to come.

Southee said the Blackcaps tried to match fire with fire, instead of playing their game which proved to be their ultimate downfall.

"We fell into their rhythm, instead of doing what we're good at," he said after the match. "That can happen in T20, the guys will learn from it and move on.

"It's a good experience for our bowlers to be put under pressure. It's about learning as we go on, but we have to dust ourselves off, and there is a series to be won this weekend in Auckland."

England were 58/2 when Morgan joined Malan at the crease and the pair put on a massive 182-run partnership, the highest third-wicket partnership by any team in the history of T20I cricket and the fourth-highest partnership for any wicket.

Malan became only the second Englishman to hit a century in a T20International when he smacked his sixth six, reaching the mark quicker than Alex Hales with his 60-ball hundred against Sri Lanka during the 2014 World Cup.

Morgan's 91 was his highest score in the game's shortest format.

"It was a good display of hitting from both guys," Southee added. Malan played well, and he hits it with ease.

"He's easy on the eye to watch so hopefully he doesn't repeat that in Auckland."

In response, the Blackcaps got off to a bright start, reaching 54/0, but the wheels quickly fell off as they lost six wickets for 35 runs.

Southee finished as the Blackcaps' top scorer with 39, one of only five players to score at least 10 runs.

"We weren't going to roll over, and we needed things to go our way. The run rate was on par for long periods, but we were regularly losing wickets.

"It was a bridge too far tonight, but you have to have belief going into a chase like that.

"You have to learn from these experiences. You have to dust yourself off, and there is a series to be won in Auckland.

"It will be a chance for the guys to bounce back. I'll move on, and we look forward to hopefully winning the series."
