A group of Australian punters watching the Melbourne Cup looked on in sheer joy as winner Vow and Declare crossed the finish line on Tuesday.
But for one of the group, Alex Xerri, it was "really sad" he didn't get to watch the race with his dad, who had died four weeks prior.
Video posted to Facebook shows them jumping up and down, after the realisation they had bagged AU$500,000 between them.

According to Daily Mail Australia, 39-year-old Xerri won NZ$346,000, while his mates bagged NZ$216,257.
Xerri said him and his dad had already made some of their tips back in June.
"He always backed my judgement and I know he's proud of me," Xerri told the Daily Mail.
"It was difficult, I was really sad that he never got to watch the Cup and share in the excitement and happiness.
"I have to dedicate this to my dad."
One of the least experienced runners in the Cup, Vow and Declare defeated Master of Reality - an Irish stayer - in Tuesday's race while Prince of Arran, who is trained in the UK, came third
