Kiwi jockey Michael Walker has apologised for excessive whipping during the Melbourne Cup, after earning a $AU10,000 ($NZ10,800) fine and a seven-race ban.
On Tuesday, Walker rode Prince of Arran to second in the great race, but the celebrations were bittersweet.
