The Auckland Tuatara have beaten Sydney for the second time in three days to claim their fifth-straight win and go 2-0 up in the series.

Pitcher Jared Koenig put together a classy performance, striking out seven and giving up two earned runs in the 5-2 win.

The Blue Sox took an early lead after Andy Burns drove in a run at the top of the first inning, but Jared Walker hit back for the home side, hitting a two-run homer to grab the lead at 2-1.

From there the Tuatara never looked back, Andrew Marck hit his first home run of the season, extending the lead to 3-1.

Blue Sox player Boss Moanaroa hit a home run in the top of the fourth to close the gap to 3-2, but catch Bas Nooij hit a bomb in the bottom of the sixth to make the score a comfortable 5-2.

The second game of the double header between the Blue Sox and the Tuatara starts at 7pm.
