Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme have been cleared to travel to Perth for the first test between the Blackcaps and Australia.

Both players missed the second test against England in Hamilton after suffering injuries during the first test at Mount Maunganui.

Pace bowler Boult had a muscle strain on the right side of his ribs and all-rounder de Grandhomme tore his left lower abdominal muscle.

The Blackcaps tweeted an update saying both are making good progress with their injuries and successfully trained on Friday and will travel to Perth on Saturday.

The first test in Perth will be the first day/night test the Blackcaps have played in nearly two years and the second test of the series will be the first Boxing Day test between the two nations since 1987.
