Blackcaps v England: Pundits marvel at Joe Denly's horror dropped catch of Kane Williamson

On an otherwise forgettable final day in the Blackcaps' second test draw against England, the first session produced a stunning moment - perhaps even a piece of history - that one man, at least, will want to forget. 

England's Joe Denly put down what cricketing experts have suggested could be the worst dropped catch that test cricket has ever seen.

It was a drop so bad it defied belief for his teammates, particularly bowler Jofra Archer who'd already begun celebrating what he presumed was a wicket - a moment of equal humour and horror.

Kane Williamson was the beneficiary of Denly's drop and he added salt to the wounds by progressing to notch an unbeaten century.

"Fairly simple, wasn't it?" said Williamson post-match. "I was very fortunate to still be batting afterwards. You don't get too many opportunities like that."
