The most powerful tool of a cricket umpire is their index finger.
During the Big Bash fixture between the Melbourne Renegades and the Adelaide Strikers, umpire Greg Davidson was about to use his to dismiss batsman Beau Webster.
But then he decided to put his finger to better use, by scratching his nose.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan hit Webster on the pad right in front of the stumps, but as Davidson went to raise his finger, he looked to change his mind and scratch his nose.
Cameron White was mic'd up when the incident happened.
"The old itchy nose, at least he got it right I guess," White said. "He just said someone told him there was a noise and also that he had a bit of an itchy nose."
Davidson told Fox Cricket he changed his mind on a gut feeling as he was putting his finger up.
The Strikers went on to win the match by 18 runs.
