Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox will feature in some of golf's richest events in 2020 after winning the PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit.

Fox completed the Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines Resort on Sunday, finishing the tournament in a tie for 27th, and enough to advance his earnings for the year past AU$307,000 (NZ$320,000), more than AU$75,000 (NZ$78,295) clear of Australian Zach Murray.

Fox will receive entry into the World Golf Champions (WGC) Mexico Championship, the Open Championship and the WGC event in China for winning the Order of Merit.

The 32-year-old is only the third Kiwi to achieve the feat, joining Mark Brown and Michael Campbell.

"Really pleased to achieve one of my goals for the year in winning the Order of Merit," Fox wrote on his Instagram page.

"A brilliant end to my 2019 season knowing I have qualified for The Open and have entry into two WGC events."

Fox also reflected on what he called a "rewarding and challenging" year.

"It's been both an extremely rewarding and challenging year - getting my first win on the European Tour in Perth earlier this year one of the highlights, along with getting married to my wife.

"There was some poor golf and mental struggles in the middle, and from this, I have learnt a lot, and come back strong towards the end of the year."
