New Zealand's Olivia Merry and Stacey Michelsen have been recognised for their outstanding seasons with nominations for the FIH Player of the Year Award.

It's the fourth consecutive year that goal-scoring machine Michelsen has been in the running for the award, while Merry's comes after finishing the FIH pro league's leading goal-scorer.

The winner will be determined by voting from assorted international coaches, fans, players, and media.

The Black Sticks women will be up against Argentina's Carla Rebecchi, Janne Müller-Wieland of Germany, and Dutch players Eva de Goede and Frédérique Matla.

The winners of all 2019 FIH Hockey Stars Awards, which also include the FIH Coach of the Year, will be announced in February 2020.

The vote is open until 17 January 2020.
