Stephen Fleming's Team Cricket have scored a measure of revenge over their rugby counterparts, winning a last-ball thriller in the T20 Black Clash in Napier.

A year ago, Team Rugby score the upset win at Hagley Oval in Christchurch and looked on course for back-to-backs in the final over at McLean Park.

Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene hit 10 runs from the first two balls of Jacob Oram's final over, leaving just five from four.

But he could only manage two more runs before being caught on the boundary rope off the final ball of the match.

Fleming won the toss and batted, but saw his side limp through the first 10 overs at 32/4.

But Matthew Sinclair (62) and Chris Harris (27) lifted Team Cricket to a semi-competitive 117 on a slow wicket.

Team Rugby was in early trouble losing four wickets in the first seven overs before All Black Jordie Barrett (26) and Jayawardene (50) put on fifty for the fifth wicket.

But Barrett fell to a stunning Andy Lee (Hamish and Andy) catch on the rope to swing the game in Team Cricket's favour.

Jayawardene had the game on his bat, but two dot balls from three for Oram left Team Rugby needing three from the final ball.

Jayawardene tried to clear the long-on boundary, but could only find Lee just short of the rope and Team Rugby scored a two-run win.
