Just two days from the third test at Sydney's SCG, the Blackcaps are battling an illness scare.
Skipper Kane Williamson and middle-order batsman Henry Nicholls were sent back to the hotel from training on Wednesday suffering from "flu-like symptoms".
Medical staff are keen to keep the pair away from other players to prevent the risk of spreading the bug.
But bowling coach Scott Jurgenson said on Wednesday that the pair are both likely starters for Friday's test match.
"They're fine. They're not really feeling good today with some flu symptoms and I'm sure they will be back training tomorrow.
"They're pretty tough, so just take a rest today. It's been a big last two tests so it's a good opportunity to have a day off and come back tomorrow," bowling coach Shane Jurgensen said after training.
Left-arm quick Neil Wagner also had the day off, but that was purely optional. The world's second best test match mowler is recovering from two mammouth stints at the crease in Perth and Melbourne.
Wagner has removed Australia's best batsman Steve Smith in all four innings in a series the hosts lead 2-0.
