10:31pm - Bouchard serves out for a 7-5 7-5 victory. Her world ranking, which peaked at No.5 in 2014, has fallen right away to 262nd, with an eight-win, 18-loss record last year, but this is a great start to her 2020 campaign.

She will now meet eight-seeded Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia in the second round on Wednesday.

That's the end of Monday's schedule, but join us at 2pm Tuesday, when Usue Maitane Arconada (USA) faces Petra Martic (Croatia) and Alize Cornet (France) takes on Ysaline Bonaventure (Belgium) on outside courts.

Centrecourt will see Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki and defending champion Julia Goerges in action. See ya then.

10:25pm - Bouchard finally breaks Flipkens' service for 6-5 in the second set and will now serve for the match.

10:10pm - Bouchard and Flipkens locked at 3-3 in the second set, games going with service, as the Canadian looks to close out the match.

9:43pm - And there's the first set for Bouchard, an impressive fightback from 3-5 down to grab the advantage against Flipkens.

9:30pm - Bouchard earns a hard fought break to take a 6-5 lead in the first. She'll serve for the opening set.

9:04pm - Eugenie Bouchard and Kirsten Flipkens are underway on centre court, although a touch of rain saw a brief delay in play.

Flipkens has an early break in the first set, taking a 3-1 lead into her service game in the fifth.

8:35pm - The All Star doubles duo of Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki cruise to a 6-2 6-4 win in their opening match against Nao Hibino and Makoto Ninomiya.

7:58pm - Krawyck and Siegemund have prevailed over Romanian Irina Bara and Russian Valeria Savinykh 6-0 6-4 to progress to doubles quarter-finals.

7:50pm - Williams and Wozniacki have taken the first set off their Japanese opponents, 6-2, barely raising a sweat.

Aussies Jessica Moore and Arina Rodionova have ousted Kiwi Paige Hourigan and Italian Sara Errani, winning 6-1 6-3, while American Desirae Krawcyk and German Laura Siegemund are also on the verge of closing out their doubles opener.

7:02pm - American teenager star Coco Gauff has lived up to her billing, cruising past Slovak Viktoria Kuzmova 6-3 6-1 in the opening round.

Ranked 67 in the world, the 15-year-old toppled her slightly higher-ranked opponent in a tick over an hour with an impressive performance, winning 81 percent of her first serves. She will now meet the winner of Siegemund v Van Uytvanck in the second round.

Next up on Centrecourt, the day's feature of match will see former world No.1s Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki team up against Japanese pair Nao Hibino and Makoto Ninomiya.

6:43pm - Swiss Jil Teichmann has dispatched Kiwi wildcard Valentina Ivanov in straight sets 6-4 6-3 and in 1h 28m to progress to the second round, where she faces the winner of Minnen v Goerges.

Slovenian Tamara Zidansek has produced the first reall upset of the ASB Classic, accounting for sixth-seeded Swede Rebecca Peterson in two tiebreak sets. Zidansek, ranked 64th in the world, now takes on American Jessica Pegula at the next stage.

Meanwhile, American teenager Coco Gauff has taken the first set off last year's beaten semi-finalist Viktoria Kuzmova, 6-3.

5:42pm - Eight-seeded Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia has finally put away American Taylor Townsend, serving out the third set for a 5-7 6-3 7-5 on Centrecourt.

Garcia will now face the winner of tonight's Bouchard v Flipkens clash, which now looks like a late one. That match took 2h 32m, with two more matches scheduled before the Canadian faces the Belgian.

Next up, American sensation 'Coco' Gauff takes on Slovak Viktoria Kuzmova on Centrecourt.

Meanwhile, Teichmann has taken the first set off Ivanov 6-4.

5:35pm - Zidansek has taken the first set off Peterson in a tiebreak, while Teichmann holds an upper hand over Ivanov, 5-3 in the first.

Garcia is serving for the match against Townsend.

4:49pm - Garcia has taken the second set 6-3 against Townsend on Centrecourt, so we could be in for a late night on opening day.

Kasatkina has beaten Suarez Navarro 6-3 3-6 6-2 in 1h 46m on Grandstand, and will meet the winner of Anisimova v Kozlova in the second round.

Kiwi wildcard Valentina Ivanov is next up against Swiss Jil Teichmann.

Meanwhile, today's qualifiers have been inserted into the main draw, with American Ann Li meeting compatriot Christina McHale, Varvara Lepchenko facing former champion Lauren Davis in another all-US affair, Belgian Greet Minnen up against defending champion Julia Goerges and Giorgi replacing Kuznetsova as Williams' opponent.

Two 'lucky losers' have also found their way into the draw, with Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure drawing Alize Cornet of France and American Usue Maitane up against Croat Petra Martic.

4:34pm - After dropping three games behind in the second set, American Jessica Pegula has rallied to complete her victory over compatriot Catherine Bellis, winning 6-0 6-4 in just 1h 04m on Court One.

She will now face the winner of Rebecca Peterson v Tamara Zidansek, which has just begun on the same court. The Slovenian has an early break over the sixth-seeded Swede.

Kasatkina is making short work of Navarro in the third set, serving at 4-0, while Garcia has her nose ahead in the second set against Townsend.

3:59pm - Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova has withdrawn from the tournament with illness, so Giorgi has apparently been 'promoted' to an opening-round clash with Serena Williams tomorrow.

That's a tough break for Giorgi, but at least she will have the benefit of match play under her belt, while most of the top players will be struggling to find form quickly in their opening outing of the new season.

Presumably that also opens up an opportunity for another lucky loser in the first round.

Meanwhile, Townsend has taken the first set 7-5 against Garcia on Centrecourt.

3:32pm - Pegula, ranked 82nd in the world, has blanked Bellis in the opening set on Court One, but Bellis promptly breaks serve in the opening ame of the second.

Meanwhile, Kasatkina takes the opening set 6-3 over Carla Suarez Navarro.

3:10pm - Italian Camila Giorgi secures the fourth qualifying spot into the main draw, prevailing 6-7 6-4 6-1 over Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure in little more than two hours.

Giorgi becomes the second come-from-behind winners of the day, after American Varvara Lepchenko dropped the opening set, but rallied to beat compatriot Catherine McNally this afternoon.

We now have three first round matches underway, with American Taylor Townsend facing French Caroline Garcia on Centrecourt, Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro against Russian Daria Kasatkina on Grandstand, and Americans Catherine Bellis and Jessica Pegula battling on Court One.

All are in their first sets.

2:47pm - Belgian Greet Minnen has become the third qualifying winner of the day, trouncing Bulgarian Isabella Shinikova 6-0 6-1.

Bear in mind, Yelena's Ostapenko's withdrawal will also allow a fifth 'lucky loser' to make the main draw.

Giorgi is up a break against Bonaventure in the third set of the last qualifer. On Centrecourt, American Taylor Townsend and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia are warming up for their 3pm start to their first-round clash.

2:35pm - Giorgi has taken the second set 6-4 against Bonaventure, so they will enter a third set in their qualifying match on Court One.

On Grandstand, Belgian Greet Minnen has swept through the opening set 6-0 over Isabella Shinikova and is up a break in the second.

1:44pm - American Varvara Lepchenko has secured the second qualifying spot of the day, beating higher-ranked compatriot Catherine McNally 5-7 6-4 6-4 to progress to the main draw of 32.

The match lasted 2h 35m, with Uzbekistan-born Lepchenko enjoying a superior 78 percent first-serve success rate.

On Court One, Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure has taken the first set over Italian Camila Giorgi in a tiebreak.

1:12pm - We've found our first qualifier for the main draw, with American Ann Li prevailing over compatriot Usue Maitane Arconada 6-1 7-5 on Court One.

Li will now progress into the opening round, where she will face either American Christina McHale, American Lauren Davis, German Julia Goerges or Alize Cornet of France or Croat Petra Martic.

On the Grandstand court, Americans Catherine McNally and Varvara Lepchenko have each won one set and have entered the third set.
