Super Rugby 2020: Crusaders recover from slow start to beat Hurricanes in Ashburton

The Crusaders have marked their first match with a new logo with a 40-19 pre-season win over the Hurricanes in Ashburton.

The Super Rugby champions had to overcome a slow start as the Hurricanes shot out to a 12-0 lead after tries from flanker Du'Plessis Kirifi and Vince Aso.

But the three-time defending champions struck back, scoring four unanswered tries of their own. Braydon Ennor, Dallas McLeod, Tom Sanders and George Bower all crossed the line to leave the scores 28-12 at the break.

After changing their 15 in the second half, the Crusaders ran in another two tries in the second 40 through Fasi Fuatai and Sione Havili to seal the 21-point win.

The Hurricanes will play the Blues next week and the Crusaders face the Highlanders in Wanaka before the opening round of Super Rugby the following weekend.
