The Auckland Tuatara have been eliminated from the Australian Baseball League playoffs after falling to Melbourne in Albany.

The hosts took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first to give the 4000 fans that turned up to North Harbour Stadium to give something to cheer about.

But that was as good as it got for the hosts, the Aces piling on the runs in the sixth, shooting out to a 6-2 lead.

A clutch double-play at the top of the ninth with bases-loaded gave the Tuatara a chance to snatch something at the death, but it wasn't to be.

Neither side could find another run after that, meaning the visitors had done enough to claim the best-of-three series 2-0 after winning game one in Melbourne on Thursday.

The loss ends the Tuatara's season, after their first playoffs appearance in just their second year in the league.

The Aces will take on the winner of Canberra v Adelaide for the championship.
