ANBL: Finn Delany, Rob Loe extend stay with NZ Breakers

The NZ Breakers have secured two key players on long term deals.

On Sunday, the Auckland-based ANBL franchise announced that their Tall Blacks frontcourt duo of Finn Delany and Rob Loe had both extended their contracts.

The news was provided a timely dose of positivity, after the Breakers were eliminated from playoffs contention following the Brisbane Bullets trouncing of the Cairns Taipans on Saturday night.

Delany has re-signed until the end of the 2022 season, while Loe has agreed to terms until 2023.

The 24-year-old Delany delivered on his undoubted potential with a career-best year. He averaged 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game and was one of the team's best down the stretch, coming up with some critical plays in the clutch.

"I re-signed with the Breakers because I love this club," Delany said.

"I feel I have unfinished business here and I want to win a championship here. I've got a lot more to grow in this league and this team and I want to accomplish something special here."

After being sidelined with a fractured skull early in the season, Loe bounced back to finish with per game averages of 9.6 points and 4.2 rebounds.

Locking in both Loe and Delany was high on the Breakers' priority list, said owner Matt Walsh.

"To get Finn and Rob to sign to the club shows the commitment by the Breakers to sign Kiwi talent alongside Tom (Abercrombie) and Corey (Webster).

"It really shows the spine of our team, the backbone of our team is going to be New Zealand talent and those are the guys who make us go, and it puts us in the driver's seat in terms of building our roster for next season."

Delany has played more than 100 games for the Breakers since 2015 and has been a Tall Black since 2017. He last represented New Zealand at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Loe has played 112 NBL games which includes a brief stint at the Cairns Taipans last season. He's been a member of the Tall Blacks for more than a decade.
