Blackcaps v India: Kyle Jamieson to be selected for Blackcaps test debut

After getting his chance in the one dayers, Blackcaps pace bowler Kyle Jamieson looks to be one day away from a test debut.

The towering Aucklander is poised to feature against India at the Basin Reserve on Friday, replacing one of the team's most potent weapons.

He'll replace the unavailable Neil Wagner - the world's second-ranked test bowler - who's been a crucial wicket-taker for the Blackcaps in recent years, but ruled out, as he and his wife await their first child.

"It's hard to replace Neil," said captain Kane Williamson. "The qualities he has are quite unique, but you bring in a guy who targets different areas and from a different height."

Both use bounce as a weapon, with Jamieson's height making him a different proposition to the skiddier Wagner, who recently became the second-fastest Kiwi to take 200 test wickets.
