Blackcaps v India: Kyle Jamieson to debut in second ODI in absence of Scott Kuggeleijn

Blackcaps newcomer Kyle Jamieson will make his international debut against India in the second one-dayer in Auckland on Saturday.

With Scott Kuggeleijn ruled out with the flu and Ish Sodhi having joined New Zealand A squad, the Blackcaps confirmed the towering quick will play at Eden Park.

"[He] had an impressive [New Zealand] A series, he's obviously a huge man, at 6 foot eight he's quite an imposing sight, so we are looking forward to seeing what he can do," Interim coach Shane Jurgensen said.

Jamieson has taken 72 first-class wickets at an average of just under 28 since his debut in 2014.

Jurgensen gave an update of pace bowler Lockie Ferguson's injury, saying the 28-year-old is in the last stage of his comeback - he is set to play for Auckland in their Ford Trophy match against Otago on Sunday.
