Blackcaps v India: Trent Boult to return from injury for test series

Injured Blackcaps linchpin Trent Boult has confirmed he'll be back for the two-test series against India later this month.

The NZ quick bowler has been sidelined with a broken right hand, suffered in the Boxing Day test in Melbourne last month.

His sights were set on returning for the opening one-day international on Wednesday, but he has now been ruled out of making any appearance during the three-game series.

He has no doubt he'll be recovered and ready to roll for the first test in Wellington.

"I'll definitely be there at the Basin Reserve," Boult told Newshub. "I can pretty much do everything, but catch, which is probably about 80 percent of my job."

On Monday, the left-handed Boult bowled freely in the nets, a sight for sore Blackcaps fans' eyes, after their recent struggles -  first in Australia, then during the T20 whitewash against India.
