NRL Nines 2020: Warriors thrashed by Knights in opening match

The Warriors have been thrashed 34-0 by the Newcastle Knight in their Perth Nines opener on Friday night.

Former Warrior Mason Lino put on a clinic against his old side, scoring the first try. 

The Knights ran riot after that, running in another five unanswered tries.

Starford To'a and Brodie Jones added to the score in the first half to make the score 20-0 at the break. 

The Knights continued to dominate in the second half, Sione Mata'utia and Tex Hoy scored after the break to complete the thrashing. 

Earlier, the women's Warriors kicked off their campaign with a win over the Roosters, they had to play in the men's jersey's because they left theirs at the team hotel.

But that didn't phase them, the Kiwis opened the scoring through Huia Harding.

The Roosters hit back before the break, Zahara Temara scored to trail 6-4 at the break, the Roosters scored again in the second half, Kiana Takairangi making the score.

With two minutes on the clock, Shontelle Stowers snatched a intercept to run 80 metres to score the winning try and seal the 13-8 win.
