Super Rugby 2020: Crusaders' David Havili named to start at 10 for injured Richie Mo'unga

The Crusaders have taken a novel approach to the loss of Richie Mo'unga for Saturday's mouth-watering matchup with the Crusaders in Hamilton.

Mo'unga will be sidelined for precautionary reasons in round two, after leaving the field early last week's win over the Waratahs with a knee and groin complaint.

Donning the No.10 jersey in his absence will be David Havili, who moves from his regular fullback position into the halves.

Will Jordan will slide across to the custodian role, while George Bridge returns from All Blacks rest to take his place on the left wing.

"Dave [Havili] brings experience and we know that's really important for these big games," said coach Scott Robertson, explaining his decision to go with Havili over first-five backup Brett Cameron.

"It also allows us to have Will Jordan on the field as well, and having both of them at the same time is also really important.

"He has a great kicking game and plays well in these big ones."

Sevu Reece will take his place in the starting lineup at the expense of opening week stand-out Leicester Faingaanuku, who shifts to the bench.

All Blacks front-rowers Joe Moody and Codie Taylor will make their first starts of the season, moving George Bower and Andrew Makalio to the bench.
