Cricket: Blackcaps captain Kane Williamson gives pet dog slip catching practice

Blackcaps captain Kane Williamson is making the most of his time during the New Zealand lockdown by spending quality time with his pet dog Sandy.

If not for the coronavirus pandemic, Williamson would be in India getting ready for the start of the Indian Premier League season, but instead he's stuck in Mt Maunganui.

Even though there is a lockdown, he is doing his best to get some cricket practice in with his precious canine.

On Friday, Wiliamson shared a video to his 916,000 Instagram followers of an impressive piece of fielding from Sandy.

Waiting in the slip cordon, Sandy leapt into the air to dismiss Williamson with a stunning catch which would have impressed any cricketer.

He uploaded the adorable video with the caption, "Sandy in the slips! Any other dogs out there joining Sandy? #caninecordon #daytwoisolation."

The video has been viewed more than 270,000 times and others around the world have posted clips on social media of their dogs trying to do something similar.

English cricketer Tom Banton tried to get his dog to replicate the catch, but it did not seem as interested.

On Thursday, Williamson shared another photo of Sandy after a yoga session.

The Indian Premier League is scheduled to start on April 15, but that seems unlikely with the world in lockdown.
