Rugby: All Blacks coach Steve Hansen, Conrad Smith, Ma'a Nonu star in outstanding 2004 karaoke clip

The All Blacks have done their best to lift people's spirits during a challenging time by posting a hilarious video of former coach Steve Hansen, and midfield marvels Conrad Smith and Ma'a Nonu showing off their musical talents.

"We thought it was about time we showed the internet this video," the All Blacks said on their social media pages, showcasing the trio's rendition of Don McLean's classic, 'American Pie'.

Hansen showed off his musical prowess, thumping the bongo drums, while belting out the lyrics. Smith and Nonu were in the background on backing vocals.

On the Instagram post, Jerome Kaino said the video was filmed in 2004, when Nonu had blonde-streaked dreadlocks.

The video was best received on Instagram, with over 160,000 views.

One fan requested the All Blacks post more videos like this, while another knew Hansen would be a bongo player.

At the time, Hansen was the All Blacks assistant coach, but was promoted to head coach in 2012, holding the role until 2019. He is currently the director of rugby with Japanese club Toyota Verblitz.

Smith and Nonu played 62 tests together for New Zealand, winning the World Cup in 2011 and 2015.

Nonu is currently in the United States, featuring for the San Diego Legion, while Smith is coaching at French club Pau.
