1919
The Stanley Cup finals are cancelled, due to a worldwide Spanish Flu epidemic - how ironic. The Montreal Canadians and Seattle Metropolitans are tied at two games apiece at the time.
1933
England cricket great Wally Hammond smashes 34 fours and 10 sixes in a record 336 runs during the drawn second test against New Zealand at Auckland's Eden Park.
Hammond would finish his career 14 years later, amassing 7249 runs, at an average of 58.45, in 85 tests.
1938
Joe Louis defends his lineal world heavyweight boxing title with a fifth-round knockout of Harry Thomas in Chicago.
Louis had an incredible run as the recognised champion, holding his title for 26 fights across 13 years. The American retired after just the third loss (66 wins) of his career, knocked out by Rocky Marciano in 1951.
1990
Legendary pro wrestler Hulk Hogan drops his WWF heavyweight title to the 'Ultimate Warrior' at WrestleMania 6 in Toronto. The result marks the end of a 364-day reign as champion for 'The Hulkster', as he passed the torch to the then-Intercontinental champion.
1995
England striker Chris Sutton scores the fastest goal in Premier League history, netted the opener just 12.94 seconds into Blackburn Rovers' 2-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park.
2016
The Golden State Warriors' brilliant 54-game home winning streak ends, when the Boston Celtics steal a 109-106 victory at the Oracle Arena in San Francisco - the Warriors' first loss at the venue in 14 months.
They would set an NBA record with 73 regular season wins that season, but would slip up against Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals, thanks to 'that' block from LeBron James.
