Combating COVID-19: How the NRL did it 

March 14 - The Warriors drop their first round match against the Newcastle Knights as news breaks they will spend at least the next week in Australia.

March 17 - Warriors CEO Cameron George tells NZ media it's unlikely the club will play a home game in 2020.

March 18 - Warriors confirm they will stay in Australian indefinitely if it means the competition continues.

March 21 - Warriors hammered by Canberra on the Gold Coast but receive a touching tribute post match from Raiders squad.

March 22 - Queensland State Government shuts its borders bringing down the doors on any plans for the Warriors to base themselves on the Gold Coast.

March 23 - ARL commissioner Peter V'landys and then NRL CEO Todd Greenburgh announce the competition is suspended due to trans-Tasman border restrictions; "An Australia without rugby league isn't Australia." 

March 24 - NRL announces September 1 as its deadline to resume play - forms Project Apollo working group to work through return date scenarios.

March 27 - NZ Warriors' leadership group dip into their own pockets to help office staff at the NRL club who face financial hardship during lockdown period.

March 28 - NRL formally cancels Magic Round set for Brisbane in May.

April 6 - NRL officials confirm they want Warriors in revamped comp, but will carry on with or without NZ club.

April 8 - Reports surface that Warriors will be granted travel exemptions by both trans-Tasman Governments.

April 9 - Fox Sports reports ARL is set to sign off on mid-May competition restart.

April 12 - Warriors CEO Cameron George expresses frustration at lack of communication between club and NRL CEO Todd Greenburg around a myriad of issues.

April 13 - Queensland Premier says no NRL club or player will be granted quarantine exemption if requested putting doubts over proposed May relaunch.

April 16 - NRL clubs vote to halt training until Warriors sit out 14-day quarantine period. 

April 17 - Sports Minister Grant Robertson cautions the NRL and NZ Warriors over a plan to resume the Australian rugby league competition in May.

April 20 - Warriors confirm exemption request is awaiting approval from Australian border security.

April 20 - Todd Greenburg resigns as CEO of NRL.

April 22 - Project Apollo announces NRL will resume on May 28 with no live crowds. 

April 25 - NRL agrees tentative broadcast agreement with Fox and Nine to resume comp on May 28.

April 26 - Cameron George stresses time is running out for travel exemption  to be granted - says they may miss entire season.

April 27 - Warriors granted travel exemption by Australian border security.

April 28 - Several NRL players including Latrell Mitchell and Nathan Clearyare involved in two separate quarantine breaking incidents - all players are later fined - Cleary is suspended for two rounds.

April 28 - NRL confirms 20 round season which includes the first two rounds played earlier in the year.

April 30 - The Warriors book private flight to Tamworth in NSW, without permission to land, although that is granted two days later. 

May 3 - The Warriors depart Auckland for Tamworth.

May 3 - Coronavirus scare leaves Nathaniel Roache stranded in Auckland. Back David Fusitu'a also misses the flight due to personal reasons.

May 4 - Cameron George floats possibility Warriors could play games in Auckland towards the end of the season. 

May 5 - Melbourne Storm's CEO says he is "disappointed" the NRL club has been forced to train at a facility normally used by a rival code.

May 8 -  NRL asks all players from the 16 clubs to vaccinate ahead of the league's return, but some players - including Kiwis forward Joseph Tapine - objected to the rule.

May 9 - Gold Coast Titans duo Bryce Cartwrigtht and Brian Kelly have been stood down indefinitely over their refusal to get influenza vaccinations.

May 14 - NRL announces one referee system will be reintroduced for 2020 season.

May 15 - The NRL's decision to revert back to one on-field referee is set to be challenged, with the referees' union lodging a dispute with the Fair Work Commission.

May 16 - Warriors draw St George for their first game of the revamped season.

May 17 - Warriors prop Leesan Ah Mau is ruled out for four months with a pectoral injury. 

May 18 - Bad injury news just keeps on coming for the NZ Warriors, with utility Jazz Tevaga the latest player to be sidelined with a knee issue.

May 18 - Cameron George takes a shot at the NRL competition's integrity, after the club's request for a loan player was rejected.

May 19 - Another name joins the ever-increasing NZ Warriors injury toll, after utility back Adam Keighran went down hurt at training.

May 19 - The NZ Warriors confirm they will play all rescheduled NRL 'home' games until at least round nine at Gosford's Central Coast Stadium.

May 20 - NRL great Paul Gallen says he would be willing to end his retirement to answer an SOS call from the injury-ravaged NZ Warriors. Broncos star Sam Thaiday echoes Gallen's call. 

May 22 - Rugby league referees boss Silvio Del Vecchioassures the NRL that match officials won't boycott the planned season restart next week, despite dispute with ARL over one-referee rule.

May 23 - The NRL grants the  Warriors dispensation to acquire loan players from other clubs just days out from the competition restarting.

May 25 - Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'landys says he aims to get crowds back to NRL games as early as July 1.

May 26 - Cronulla Sharks centre Bronson Xerri provisionally suspended under the NRL's anti-doping policy, after testing positive for banned substances.

May 28 - Warriors announce signing of loan player Poasa Faamausili from the Sydney Roosters.
