NRL 2020: Rabbitohs star Cody Walker reportedly blackmailed over fight video

South Sydney Rabbitohs playmaker Cody Walker has reportedly told New South Wales police he is blackmailed over a video that allegedly shows him kicking a man in a fight last year.

According to Australia's Channel Nine, the blackmailer is asking for $20,000 or he will release the video to the media.

The incident allegedly took place in northern New South Wales in October.

The Rabbitohs have been made aware of the incident, while the NRL integrity unit will speak to Walker on Monday.

"The South Sydney Rabbitohs are aware of an incident involving player Cody Walker, which took place in northern New South Wales in October 2019," the club says. "The NRL's integrity unit have been informed.

"At no stage has Cody Walker been the subject of a police enquiry in relation to this incident.

"The Rabbitohs will be making no further comment on this matter at this stage, as it is part of an ongoing police enquiry instigated by Cody Walker himself."

Since making his debut in 2016, Walker has played 98 NRL games for South Sydney and his stellar form saw him make his New South Wales State of Origin debut last year.

The Rabbitohs will face the Sydney Roosters on May 29 in their first match since the coronavirus pandemic forced the NRL season to be suspended.
