NRL 2020: NRL reporter Hannah Hollis sent for COVID-19 test after sideline interview with Valentine Holmes

The NRL is set to investigate a biosecurity breach involving Fox Sports presenter Hannah Hollis during the NZ Warriors' win over the North Queensland Cowboysat Central Coast Stadium.

During the second half of the match, Hollis reached over the sideline fence and used a single microphone to conduct an interview with Cowboys fullback Valentine Holmes, who had been ruled out of the game with an ankle injury.

There was no contact between the pair, but Hollis breached the NRL's rules which say a two-metre barrier is required between players and media during game-day interviews.

The incident comes days after Kiwis captain Benji Marshall was involved in a social distancing breach when he gave 7 News reporter Michelle Bishop a kiss on the cheek.

According to reports in Australia, Hollis has been told to undergo a coronavirus check, while it's understood that Holmes was able to fly home with his teammates to Townsville.

Holmes was sorely missed as the Warriors claimed a 37-26 win.

On Wednesday, Marshall was sent home and was told to return to West Tigers headquarters until Bishop received results for her COVID-19 test.

The incident comes less than 24 hours after Marshall was dropped from the Tigers side to face Canberra Raiders this weekend. Only days before, replacement Josh Reynolds was caught in a failed road-side drugs test.

Luckily the test came back negative.

Last week, Canterbury Bulldogs were slapped with a $25,000 suspended fine, after club legend Terry Lamb - who is not a member of their 50-person NRL bubble - shook hands with several players at Belmore.

Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'landys said the Tigers could expect to receive a suspended fine.

"There has to be, because we need to have deterrents in place for the clubs to obey the biosecurity measures," V'landys said on 2GB radio.

"The Government's been kind enough to allow us to conduct our competition under strict biosecurity measures and we have to honour our part of the deal.

"They [Wests Tigers] will probably be treated the same as the Bulldogs."
