NRL 2020: NZ Warriors' Ken Maumalo returns from injury against Melbourne Storm

The NZ Warriors will be boosted by the return of wing Ken Maumalo, when they take on the Melbourne Storm in Sydney on Friday.

Maumalo has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury but will reclaim his spot in the right wing this weekend in interim head coach Todd Payten's first game in charge since taking over from the axed Stephen Kearney.

David Fusitu'a will join him on the opposite wing, having recovered from the head injury that forced him from the field during the 40-12 loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday.

The Tonga international will also become the 24th Warriors player to reach 100 games for the club, the first to reach the milestone since Shaun Johnson in 2015.

In the forwards, the impressive Eliesa Katoa has been forced to sit out due to an ankle injury suffered last weekend, while hooker Wayde Egan is also sidelined after pleading guilty to a grade-two conduct charge.

New signing Jack Murchie will make his first starting appearance in place of Katoa, while Karl Lawton moves into the hooker role.

On the bench, half Chanel Harris-Tavita has been named for what will be his first game of the restarted season, while Isaiah Papali'i returns after missing the games against Cowboys and the Rabbitohs.

Friday's game has been relocated from Melbourne's AAMI Park to Sydney's Jubilee Stadium due to a recent spike in COVID-19 in Victoria.

The Storm will be all the more dangerous coming off their 21-14 defeat at the hands of the Penrith Panthers on Saturday. The Melburnians haven't lost consecutive NRL games since August 2018.
