NRL 2020: Kiwis star Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad suffers gruesome finger injury in win over Rabbitohs

Kiwis international Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad faces a stint on the sidelines, after suffering a sickening finger injury during Canberra Raiders' 18-12 win over South Sydney Rabbitohs on Saturday night.

Early in the second half, with the scores locked at 12-12, Nicoll-Klokstad was escorted from the field in visible pain, with blood visible on his left hand.

Shortly after, Nicoll-Klokstad was diagnosed with a compound dislocation, meaning the bone pierced the skin, but wasn't broken.

Despite the nature of the injury, he is only expected to be sidelined for two weeks.

The Raiders also lost fellow NZ international Jordan Rapana during the game due to a head clash.

The injuries couldn't have come at a  worse time for Raiders coach Ricky Stuart, who is running out of players to call on.

Earlier this week, Stuart said he only had 20 fit players to choose from, after naming the injured John Bateman in his 21-man squad.

Stuart says he won't rush Kiwi Corey Harawira-Naera into the side for next week's clash against North Queensland Cowboys, unless he can prove his fitness in time.

Harawira-Naera signed with the Raiders earlier in the week, after being released by Canterbury Bulldogs.

He was deregistered for his involvement in a Port Macquarie schoolgirl sex scandal in March, but after he was reinstated, Harawira-Naera demanded to leave the Bulldogs.

"Corey will come back to him passing his bio-security tests and when he can join us in the bubble," says Stuart.

"I'll make that decision when I know how fit he is and where his conditioning is at. I won't rush Corey, [but] the sooner he's available, the better it's going to be for our team."
