All Whites striker Chris Wood has been linked with a shock move to Italian Serie A club Lazio, according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report claims the New Zealand international's representatives have told Lazio that he's interested in a move to the Rome-based club.

Wood is thought to be open to a move to Lazio, as he looks for a new challenge, with the club's board members to considering a bid for the Kiwi.

Lazio, who have been crowned Italian champions twice in 1974 and 2000, are looking for a new striker to play alongside Ciro Immobile, who was recently awarded the European Golden Shoe for scoring the most goals in Europe with 35 in 36 games.

Wood, 28, is coming off his best English Premier League season, scoring 14 goals for Burnley. In total, he has scored 38 times since joining the 'Clarets' three seasons ago.

While Wood is on contract at Burnley through to the end of the 2022/23 season, Lazio have qualified for next season's Champions League and that is a big drawcard for any player.

Wood joined Burnley from Leeds United in 2017 for an equal club-record £15m (NZ$26 million).

He has also played for West Bromwich Albion, Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham City, Bristol City, Millwall and Leicester City during his career in England.
