As coronavirus continues to wreak havoc around the world, Seattle Seahawks are taking no chances, with the NFL franchise willing to sack anyone who disobeys their rules.

That stance was tested this week, with the Seahawks releasing undrafted rookie Kemah Siverand, after he tried to bypass safety measures by sneaking a woman into the team hotel during training camp.

According to the NFL Network, Siverand went to extreme lengths to get the woman into his room by making her look like a Seahawks player.

But his deception was caught on video and he was subsequently cut from the roster, with the reason becoming clear 48 hours later.

NFL teams are under strict orders not to engage in any activities that could cause an outbreak of COVID-19.

The incident also comes after the NBA's crackdown, with only family members and close contacts allowed into the 'Orlando bubble'.

The NFL is pressing on with the 2020/21 season, opting against an NHL or NBA-style bubble, as COVID-19 cases continue to increase in the US.

The season is due to start next month, when the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs host Houston Texans on September 11 (NZ time).
